We’ve been partying with our neighbors across the street at the Rice Factory to bring you this delicate Japanese Style Rice Lager. Showcasing Yumepirika rice from Hokkaido, the combination of ingredients boast snappy lemon zest with a sake like finish. You could say, “本当に美味しいで” most of the time we end up saying, “乾杯” (cheers!) They are 100% volunteer-based and dedicate their time to ensuring that our community is able to enjoy healthy ocean, waves, and beaches. Without this industrious individual, we would not have such an amazing team at Hana Koa. This recipe was originally brewed a block down the road from us at the original Homebrew store Dave ran on Oahu. A classic California Common reminiscent of classic foundational craft. Brewers pass the torch each generation but only a small few earn the right to be given the title OB. We are masters of learning and continue to pass on our knowledge for the next generation. With the powers of Simoce, Mosaic, and Nectaron, our heroes would certainly stand a chance to mount a counter-offensive. Only through the powers of clear IPA can they be victorious. Inspired by the City Pop genre music of Japan and young romance, this porter was crafted for late night rendezvous filled with good conversation. We walked across the street to our friends at The Rice Factory and they gave us some choice rice from Niigata called Koshihikari 越光. The combination of chocolate and roasted malts with the delicate rice lend to an extremely drinkable experience. Best enjoyed under the night sky with good company and a late night snack. Baltic Porter - (5.4% alc/vol) On the high seas of the Pacific Ocean, our friends Pete and Amy braved underwater monsters, storms of immense magnitude, and a lack of Mai Tai supplies. When they arrived on island we quickly gathered our brewing supplies and got to work. We also ordered Mai Tais. What you have in front of you is Baltic Porter. Originally developed as a gift by the British for Russian Royalty, this beer is meant to travel well and drink easy. Notes of milk chocolate, dates, and light-roasted coffee bring a comfort to an otherwise uncomfortable rough tide. Farewell Pete and Amy! May your travels be fruitful and that you not run out of rum. Small Kine Lager - (3.6% alc/vol) Little Shack Lager is a crisp beer inspired by our friends at Sumida Farm. Pulling inspiration from their iconic grass shack- reimagined as a backyard beer stand where good times flow as freely as the beer. Stepping into their ‘Aiea farm was a tranquil escape, like traveling back in time. Here we were introduced to the magic of watercress, a plant as vibrant and rooted as the community itself.
