WINE OF THE WEEK
WINE OF THE WEEK!
- 2019 Arietta Hudson Vineyards Merlot -97 PTS WE$60.00
"The energy from 2019 seems to have concentrated and focused the Arietta Hudson Vineyards Merlot, and added a weight and depth that is found only in outstanding vintages. The wine seems supercharged, with a pointedly robust midpalate, intense black fruit aromas, and a strength and length that is downright exciting. This eminently enjoyable wine is deep and layered, but also buoyant and uplifting. I think it is a benchmark for this variety in California." - Andy Erickson Winemaker
- 2020 Arietta "H Block" Cabernet Franc/Merlot - 96 PTS WA$100.00
"Several months after bottling, the wine is showing the hallmarks of a great vintage of H Block: exotic spice, red and black fruits, gravel, dried flowers, and black licorice. The young tannins are firm right now, but with time in the decanter the wine softens and opens up. There is a fresh, mouthwatering sensation, along with a crescendo of flavors and textures, and a lengthy finish. This wine will certainly gain polish and complexity with time in the bottle, and will easily age for two decades or more." - Andy Erickson Winemaker
- 2020 Arietta "Quartet" Red Blend Napa Valley - 92 PTS RP$55.00
"The 2020 vintage produced wines that are bright and pure, with notes of raspberry, vanilla bean, and a surprising mix of pit fruits—apricot, plum, even white peach—wrapped in an envelope of cocoa powder and girded by a strong framework of tannin. The wine has excellent focus and an intense perfume, with all of the above fruits, licorice, and floral notes. A huge win for 2020." - Andy Erickson Winemaker
