Hardywood's Black is Beautiful Volume 2 is a dry-hopped lager, initiated by Sterling Stokes, the RVA Beermeister. Sterling played a pivotal role in bringing this project to life, introducing us to Alisa Bowens from Rhythm Brewing out of Connecticut and LaTonia Cokely at Ajourn Tea House in Baltimore. This unique brew is fermented cold and is dry hopped on Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, and Cashmere hops to provide ripe peach, honeydew, and tangerine aromatic notes. Infused with Ajourn’s signature Free Will tea blend, top notes of strawberry and subtle black tea intermingle spectacularly with the hop profile. The striking label, designed by Richmond artist Ron Stokes, enhances the visual appeal and tells the story of our collective effort. This collaboration embodies our commitment to our community and our commitment to crafting beer that brings all people together!

Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Cru is brewed in the fashion of Belgium’s revered monastic breweries. Bourbon Barrel Cru displays a rich mahogany hue with a medium body and brilliant clarity after months of barrel aging. The maturity and melding of flavors brought on by the freshly drained bourbon whiskey barrels lends an extraordinary sense of harmony to Bourbon Barrel Cru. Almond, toffee and oaky vanilla give way to notes of dark cherries and raisins. Subtle hints of plum are greeted by caramel overtones for a smooth, robust and warming finish.

Fightin' Hokies Orange Wheat is a modern take on a traditional German-style Amber Wheat Beer called a Bernsteinfarbenes Weizen. Known for its amber-to-brown color, full-bodied malt-driven flavor, and low-hop presence, this beer is a classic yet relatively unknown style. This classic, relatively unknown style is already a mouthful to say, but we took it a step further by integrating sweet orange peel, which adds rich, layered orange flavor and subtle citrus aroma. This unique beer is the 4th beer created through our partnership with Virginia Tech's Food Science and Technologies Department.

Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond. Richmond Dark Lager is an extension of our classic American Craft Lager you know as Richmond Lager. Using a touch of highly kilned drum roasted, dehusked malt in the recipe, we transform our pale yellow Richmond Laget to a translucent mahogony color with notes of delicate roast, chocolate, and caramel flavors and aromas. Fuller in body than our classic Richmond Lager, Richmond Dark Lager retains the clean and crisp finsh you look for in a well crafted lager.

Real unfiltered lager crafted from the finest hops and barley malt. We are proud to continue supporting Virginia agriculture. A portion of the grain bill incorporates Virginia-grown and malted 2-row barley buy Murphy and Rude Malting Company. The use of Cascade hops lends a subtle citrus note in the finish.
