Hardywood Richmond

Steam Beer is a classic style born in Germany but refined for the American palate in the 1980s by Anchor Brewing Company who coined it a California common beer. Steam Beer is fermented with lager yeast but fermented at a higher temperature than standard lagers. With a fairly simple malt and hop bill consisting of 2-Row Pale Malt, a touch of Crystal Malt, and Northern Brewer hops our Steam Beer is amber in color, crisp, and refreshing.

Hardywood Benny & the Fest is our take on a traditional German Marzen. Malt forward with a light sweetness and dry finish, Benny & the Fest is a wonderfully crisp treat to pair with the cooler temperatures of fall. Brewed each year to be served at the Saint Benedict's Oktoberfest, a staple in Richmond events, this beer is one to please all.

Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine is our bold take on an already classic robust beer style. After careful barrel aging our barleywine recipe, the finished beer imparts a deep mahogany hue and complex flavors and aromas. Cherry, hazelnut, and chocolate aromatic notes erupt from the glass preparing you for flavors of candied apple, toffee, and bourbon. Using exclusively A. Smith Bowman's bourbon barrel acquired from their Fredricksburg distillery, the fresh bourbon character combines with the sweet notes of the Marris Otter malt to warm and soothe. A blend of both 4-year and 12-year bourbon barrels was used to provide additional complexity and depth of flavor.

Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Cru is brewed in the fashion of Belgium’s revered monastic breweries. Bourbon Barrel Cru displays a rich mahogany hue with a medium body and brilliant clarity after months of barrel aging. The maturity and melding of flavors brought on by the freshly drained bourbon whiskey barrels lends an extraordinary sense of harmony to Bourbon Barrel Cru. Almond, toffee and oaky vanilla give way to notes of dark cherries and raisins. Subtle hints of plum are greeted by caramel overtones for a smooth, robust and warming finish.

Hardywood Park Craft Brewery is partnering with the Virginia National Guard Historical Foundation for a special release in time for Veterans Day. Ever Forward American Lager is a tribute to the thousands of soldiers and airmen of the Virginia National Guard.

Hardywood Farmhouse Pumpkin is a Wallonian-style saison brewed with a classic saison yeast, Virginia-grown sugar pie pumpkins from Snake Creek Farms, whole nutmeg, clove and allspice from C.F. Sauer (Richmond, VA), and fresh ginger root from Casselmonte Farms (Powhatan, VA). Our farmhouse ale presents a delicate spice profile that compliments the saison yeast esters. Farmhouse Pumpkin is soft in mouthfeel with balanced, rustic fall flavors.

Clean and crisp, with pleasant aromatics of fresh bread, a subtle underlying floral note from noble hops, and a touch of malt sweetness in the finish, this golden Munich-style helles lager is cold-conditioned for weeks, resulting in an exceptionally refreshing beer.

Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond. Hardywood Ginger Beer is a delicious and balanced non-alcoholic ginger beer using local Virginia ginger and honey. The ginger spice is not too subtle and not too aggressive and will satisfy your taste buds.

Pappy's Pumpkin Pie brings a bit of American Thanksgiving to Wallonia by spicing up our Wallonian Farmhouse Pumpkin Ale with additional cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove and allspice, then topped off with vanilla bean, toasted coconut and lactose to create sweet and delicious homemade pumpkin pie in a glass.

Richmond Dark Lager is an extension of our classic American Craft Lager you know as Richmond Lager. Using a touch of highly kilned drum roasted, dehusked malt in the recipe, we transform our pale yellow Richmond Laget to a translucent mahogony color with notes of delicate roast, chocolate, and caramel flavors and aromas. Fuller in body than our classic Richmond Lager, Richmond Dark Lager retains the clean and crisp finsh you look for in a well crafted lager.

Real unfiltered lager crafted from the finest hops and barley malt. We are proud to continue supporting Virginia agriculture. A portion of the grain bill incorporates Virginia-grown and malted 2-row barley buy Murphy and Rude Malting Company. The use of Cascade hops lends a subtle citrus note in the finish.

Richmond Lager with Lime is an extension of our classic American Craft Lager you know as Richmond Lager. Using fresh Natalie's lime juice to provide a bright and subtle sour citrus accent to our crisp lager provides a refreshing and exilarating experience in both flavor and aroma. This beer is fantastic in the warm weather months, but can be enjoyed any anytime of the year.

Hardywood Rum Barrel Pumpkin combines the nostalgic flavors and aromas of autumn with a soul warming, blackstrap molasses laced finish that can only be achieved through months of maturation in dark rum barrels. Pleasantly mellow up front, Hardywood Rum Barrel Pumpkin offers a crescendo of pumpkin pie spices that are emboldened by the barrel aging process, and finishes with subtly sweet, lingering notes of brown sugar.
