$150.00 - NV Champagne, Pinot Meunier VV "Dure Peine", Sebastien Girost
This 100% Pinot Meunier is a Blanc de Noir, it’s produced from old vines panted in 1929 in the lieu-dit “Dure Peine”, which means “High Waters” because there are many small natural springs, with a south and south-west aspect on a loamy clay soil. The wine is vinified in selected Burgundy barrels, without malolactic fermentation; the color is medium lemon; it has pronounced aromas and flavors of red berries, raspberries, peach, ripe lemon, white flowers and a touch of herbal notes, well balanced by high acidity; after 4 years on the lees during the second fermentation, you can also perceive further complexity given by notes of crusty bread, almonds and yeasty autolytic nuances. The smooth bubbles and the fine-grained texture pleasantly accompany the delicate fruitiness of the finish. It’s not so common to find a Champagne 100% Pinot Meunier and this Sebastien Girost Brut “Dure Peine” is an elegant and delicious example.

Sparkling wine is a joyous thing, whether it be Grand Cru Grower Champagne or cheap as chips Prosecco, it’s built for celebrations and sunshine imbibing – but Pet Nat is truly the most democratic and exciting of the field, so it’s only fitting Unico Zelo added it to their Tropo range. They pieced together a lovely blush blend of Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, Skinsy Pinot Gris and a tiny dose of Merlot to make the most refreshing bubbly boy in the game. Spring strawberries, pickled cherries, red currants, ripe pear and creaming soda all at once. A lovely dry, saline finish to boot – this will fill your recycling bins all summer

- 2012 "Evidence", Etienne Courtois, Loire
We're lucky to have snagged a few bottles of this...A complex aromatic palette, with hints of walnuts and spices, this is an oxidative vin de voile wine made in the spirit of a vin jaune from the Jura. Rich and dry, this is an extremely high-class wine! An unbelievable cuvée, unique in the world... 100% Menu Pineau from vines farmed organically and planted on a flinty clay soil. The grapes are late harvested, with ultra low yields of 7 to 12 hl/ha! An unconventional approach to maturation – 120 months in barrels without ouillage, i.e. the custom of topping up the barrels regularly to compensate for the phenomenon of evaporation known as “the angels share”. When a barrel is not topped up for a long time a veil of flor develops on the surface of the wine; the flor is nourished by the wine.

$30.00 - 2023 Chenin Blanc, Mosse, Loire$30.00
- 2021 Chenin Blanc "Rouchefer", Mosse, Loire
This wine is produced within the Anjou appellation but is intentionally declassified as VDF. Le Rouchefer is a single vineyard bottling from a 1.66 hectare parcel of the same name. An ample and generous Chenin, balanced by a vibrant minerality, the light maceration gives it structure. Agnès and René Mosse, along with their sons Joseph and Sylvestre, live and work in the village of St-Lambert-du-Lattay, a village in the Coteaux-du-Layon area of Anjou. Layon is a small tributary to the Loire that lazily digs its way through well exposed and drained hills of schist and sandstone. Its micro-climate allows for a long hang-time, and when the mornings are foggy in the fall, with no rain, botrytis develops easily on the Chenin grapes. Alluring and fresh, with beautiful kumquat, crisp apple and nectarine notes complemented by a glaze of honey. Shows good tension and energy through the clean finish, while a whiff of smoke, sea salt and intense minerality add range. Impressive.

- 2022 Pecorino, Torre Dei Beati, Abruzzo
Torre Dei Beati, or Tower of The Blessed, is the estate winery of Fausto and Adriana Albanesi located near the picturesque hilltop village of Loreto Aprutino- which predates even the Romans. The estate's name derives from the steepled 14th-century church that looms beyond the vineyard. Since inheriting 40 acres from her father in 1999, Fausto and Adriana have nurtured the original vines on the property, planted in 1972, while successfully obtaining organic certification. The Pecorino grapes were picked by hand, gently pressed, and the juice was fermented in 100% stainless steel. Six months of aging on the lees results in a wine that is floral on the nose yet round on the palate. Star bright with light gold shades, the wine features aromas of citrus blossom and lavender, rounded by flavors of honey. This roundness is balanced with zesty acidity and minerality.

- 2020 Chardonnay/Pinot Blanc “Waiting for Tom White”, Rennersistas, Austria
This is a blend of Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder), and Chardonnay. It’s given three days on skins for a touch of colour and texture before being pressed into foudre and some old barriques. It hits you with what is undoubtedly a Rennersistas signature, massive and lively freshness. It has great acidity, but this is totally balanced by fruit. There’s a little spice there as well, perhaps a touch of liquorice. A staff fave

The Tomac family has been making wine for over a century, but it wasn't until 1987 that they began bottling in a modern style. In 1996, their Chardonnay gained international attention with recognition at the prestigious Chardonnay du Monde in France, followed by an award in Paris in 1997 for their Tomac Classic sparkling wine. Over the years, they’ve earned many accolades, but their commitment to traditional winemaking has never wavered. In 2006, they took their craft to the next level by embracing fully organic practices and adopting amphora winemaking, using clay vessels imported from Georgia. Marany challenges the common misconceptions about amber wines—it’s neither overly sweet nor vinegary. This wine glides effortlessly across the palate, offering a vibrant array of flavors like fruit tea, dried apricots, blood oranges, grapefruit, and a touch of dry ginger. It’s energetic and full of life

Winemaking: 12 days of whole cluster carbonic maceration in fiberglass tank followed 17 days of fermentation in old barrique after pressing. After fifteen days of carbonic maceration in fiberglass tanks followed by a year of aging in old barrique, the wine is transformed into a beautifully structured red that weaves bright energy with masterful finesse. This wine is an incredible and unique expression of Malbec, Château Lestignac is managed by Camille & Mathias Marquet, a young couple who inherited the family farm in 2008. The farm originally included 17 hectares of vinifera vines, but the Marquets pared the vineyard down to the best sites and introduced a diverse garden and livestock into the mix to develop a true polyculture to complement their conscientious, organic farming style. 2009 was their first vintage under the banner of Lestignac and the couple began to introduce biodynamic farming in 2011. In addition to the vineyard, the farm is home to over 200 fruit trees, 80 chickens, and 20 sheep.

This 100% Mavrud wine from grapes that are harvested entirely by hand and then left to dry out and raisin-ate for two months. This is a similar method used for Amarone wines in Italy (apasimento method). The wines are then fermented and matured for 2 months in oak. After that they are aged in glass demi-johns (large jars) some some slight oxidative notes. The result is a deeply concentrated, dark fruited and intensely structured wine. Something truly special.

- 2021 Pinot Noir, "Les Dahrres". Marie-Therese Chappaz, Valais, Switzerland
In 2023, Chappaz might have had the quietest 100 point wine in history. "The first 100 pointer in Switzerland since William Tell,” quipped Stephen Reinhardt at robertparker.com. In 2022 Chappaz was named Swiss Winemaker of the Year. Six years previous, Gault-Millau designated the estate one of the World's Top 100 Wineries. Perhaps it is the challenging territory. The team of nine tends to 11 biodynamic hectares on severely sloping aspects in and surrounding the villages of Fully, Charrat, Leytron, and Chamoson. Many of the plots are only accessible on foot. Or it might be the scarcity. Although the Valais is the most prolific region in the nation, Switzerland exports just 1% of its wine production. Chappaz produces close to 20 cuvées, so each label is quite limited. The total of all Swiss wines exported to the U.S. at around 10,000 bottles/year. The estate is now in its fourth decade of biodynamics, the wines are made with indigenous yeast and bottled without filtering.

- 2021 "Dans le Vide" Jolie Laide, Healdsburg, CA
We’re big fans of this two-person operation based in Sebastopol. Jolie-Laide is Jenny Schultz and partner Scott Schultz. They call themselves a " tiny, hands on (and feet) operation making distinct and fascinating wines." This is down to their methods: grapes are left whole cluster, foot crushed, and aged in neutral oak with a focus on French varieties. "The approach is a natural one, a less is more ethos," according to the duo. This organic blend brings together several juicy and interesting varieties: 45% Trousseau Noir, 30% Cabernet Pfeffer, 20% Valdiguié, and 5% Gamay. Delicate and lean, mineral-laden, raspberry and cranberry scented with incense, tobacco and hints of black pepper. All components fermented separately, partially carbonic for brightness and all whole cluster adding to the complex spice aromas. Low added SO2.
$40.00 - 2020 Barbaresco "Starderi" Olek Bondono
100% Nebbiolo from Starderi, from the northernmost commune of Neive: a small parcel of 40 year-old vines Olek is lucky enough to rent from an older couple who can no longer tend its steep slopes. Fermented in concrete with two months on the skins (submerged cap), then pressed off and moved to large botti for longer élevage (usually two years). Unfined, unfiltered, with moderate amounts of SO2 (10-20ppm max) added just before bottling. The soils in Starderi are a little softer, more clay, less intense marl; the site is also less exposed than elsewhere in the region. As a result this is a wine that’s expressive in its youth, with refreshing acidity and gentler tannins. Don’t let its aromatic openness fool you, though: it has a long life ahead.

- 2018 Nebbiolo..."Colombera & Garella", Cottionano, Bramaterra, Piedmont
For lovers of Nebbiolo- this is such a beautiful and approachable expression from the northern reaches of Piedmont. The volcanic soils here and higher elevation lead the wine to being simultaneously light on its feet and rich with sapid sanguine red fruit. A beautiful nose with fresh wild flowers spruce and fresh herbs with wild cherry iron and dried herbs on the palate. The blend is 80% Nebbiolo with 10% Croatina and 10% Vespaiolo. Fermentation happens in concrete tanks with native yeast then aging for 2 years in used barriques. No filtering fining or other additions except a modicum of sulfur.
$50.00 - 2023 Manseng Noir "Folklore", Castel Pujol, Uruguay

Then everything is pressed together and stored in second-use barrels where the malolactic and fermentation ends. It is only kept in barrels for 2 months for natural clarification. This is a very interesting wine that tests a cool growing site in a hot vintage. The Castello Romitorio 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta comes from a high-altitude vineyard with dark soils and pockets of slate and shale. It is isolated in the mountains and surrounded by thick forests and Mediterranean shrub oak. That combination of unique elements has shaped a very articulate and attuned expression that boasts vibrant fruit, smoke, spice and wet stone. The finish is sharp and especially focused with age-worthy tannins and bright acidity.
