Klaus Hoppert Orellana started growing coffee with a vision to help his people through a more profitable coffee crop. With a small processing facility in the village of Las Botijas Honduras, Klaus and his US counterpart, Vince McDonnell, are now helping educate and incentivize farmers to improve coffee quality without harsh fertilizers and pesticides, bringing straightforward methods to the mountains of Comayagua to help them get higher prices and produce better coffees. The coffee, comprised of Obata, Pacas, Ihactu, and Pache varieties, undergoes natural processing and is grown at an altitude of 1,650 meters above sea level. This offering not only embodies a commitment to sustainability but also promises a remarkable cup. We taste notes of cherry, brownie, floral honey, and walnut. This is the result of the collaborative efforts of individuals like Klaus and Vince, who are fostering positive change in the coffee industry.
OUT OF STOCK$5.50 - Indonesia Walida V60
In the Tlogosari Village, the locals have established a social non-profit cooperative known as the “Walida Cooperative”, to enhance the overall well-being of the community. Led by Ahmad Muhlisin, 20% of all profits are allocated to the cooperative. This 20% is set aside for a local K-12 school that focuses on supplying free education to villagers. Ahmad's coffee is grown at the base of Mount Argopuro in the eastern region of Java, Indonesia. Given the limited water resources in his area, he places a strong emphasis on natural-processed coffee. The coffee processing initiates with a thorough cleansing of the cherries. Following this, they are meticulously sorted by flotation and then gently sun-dried on raised beds. The next stage involves a "density sorter" to categorize the cherries, after which they are carefully packaged and shipped.

$22.00 - Brazil 10 oz Retail Bag
A few miles outside of Santana Do Manhuaçu, in Minas Gerais Brazil, lies a tiny plot of land that grows a few red catuai coffee trees. This sitio, a “small modest place”, produces only a few bags of coffee a year, managed by Fabio Silva. The product of Fabio’s exceptional care for his trees, the low yields, and careful processing shine through in the final cup. This naturally processed catuai is a testament to Brazilian specialty coffee; a delicate and complex cup, with notes of black tea, grapefruit, raisin, and plum. Upshot’s connection to Fabio began through Agner Torres and Prime Coffee. Agner has worked as a local coffee buyer in Brazil for many years. Agner’s mission is to buy coffee from all over the region to bring awareness to the overall specialty market in Brazil. This small market is only growing due to the diligent efforts of people like Fabio and Agner with the help of organizations like Prime Coffee.

Region: Tarrazu Process: Washed Varietal: Caturra, Catuai Altitude: 1,500 - 1,800 MSAL La Pastora stands as one of CoopeTarrazu's timeless blends, hailing from the mountainous Tarrazu canton in the San Jose province. The contributing farmers tend to their coffee plantations at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 1,800 meters above sea level, fostering the development of denser beans due to the combination of high altitude and low temperatures. In 1960, 228 smallholder farmers in the Los Santos de Tarrazu region joined forces to overcome challenges in coffee production and to expand their market reach. Today, CoopeTarrazu has 4,000 members which makes it the largest cooperative in Tarrazu, Costa Rica.

Colombia Jairo Arcila "Mandarin Washed (CM)" Region- Quindio Variety- Caturra Process- Washed Carbonic Maceration + Mandarin Notes: Honeydew, Cashew, Sweet Mandarin The Caturra variety can be traced back to Minas Gerais, Brazil. Its impressive resistance to plant diseases and its ability to yield higher production volumes make it an attractive choice for cultivation. Grown on the Santa Monica Farm by Jairo Arcila, this coffee started its processing journey with a 24-hour anaerobic fermentation. Next, the coffee was placed inside GrainPro bags for 50 hours, with the addition of CO2. During this stage, dehydrated mandarin orange peel was introduced giving its signature sweet mandarin note. The coffee was then carefully washed and positioned on elevated drying beds until the desired moisture content was achieved.
